Electric Generation statistics :Generation sector in Jordan consist of three companies, Central Electricity Generation Company (CEGCO) and Amman East Power Plant (AES) which are owned by private sector, and Samra Electric Power Generation Company (SEPGCO) which is owned by government, but it will be privatized during 2009.
The nominal capacity for these companies is 2494 MW. CEGCO contributed with a rate of 62% of the total electrical energy generated during year 2008, SEPGCO contributed with a rate of 26%, AES contributed with a rate of 6% and the industrial companies and interconnection contributed with a rate of 6%.
Electricity Generation in Jordan depends on natural gas by 79% of total generation.
While HFO and LFO contributed by 21% of total generation.
There is three type of generation in Jordan, first, Thermal generation, second, gas generation, third, generation by combined cycle system which depends on natural gas as main fuel, and depends on LFO and HFO as secondary fuel
