Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO)To be ready for the new stage of Electric Sector Privatization Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) seeker in its ninth year to employ its physical and human resources to expand progressively in all fields of work, since its establishment February 12, 1998 as a public shareholding company at the companies’ register under number (335). Its growth indicators surpassed in 2007 the situation of 1999. It reached (95%) in the held of electric power sales, (48%) m the electric networks lengths, and (42%) in the number of consumer.
In view of the wide areas covered by the Company’s concession, which amounts to (77%) of the Kingdom’s size, of highly populated areas, it was imperative to maintain the number and levels of outages to be in the minimum limits according to the strategy laid by the Company to improve the reliability of electric feedback.
The electricity distribution company was privatized by selling 100% of its shares to Kingdome Electricity Company (KEC) which owned by capital Dubai Company. The ownership was transferred to (KEC) in 2/7/2008.
