Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) The operation of Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO). Started in 1/1/1999 as public company stemming from the governmental policies related to restructuring the electrical sector starting from transforming Jordan Electricity Authority to a public company by virtue of electricity Law No. 10 for the year 1996 as of 1/9/1996. Afterwards, the company was restructured to be three companies, each of which is specialized in a certain activity, the company undertakes generating the electrical energy in the kingdom, running. Operating and maintaining all its power plants, as the electrical energy is produced and sold to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). Central electricity Generating Co. was privatized on 20/9/2007, as agreement of selling (51%) of the shares of CEGCO was signed in favor of “ENARA” Energy Arabia, a company established of by Jordan Dubai Energy, the energy in investment arm of Jordan Dubai Capital, the government has kept 40% of CEGCO, while the possession of the social Security Investment Unit. The signed agreements have entered into force as of 18/10/2007.
